Life
Between Two Time Zones
Some days are quietly lengthened by two different clocks, and I happen to live between them.
At first, I was always calculating the time. Later, without looking at a clock, I knew which side had just woken and which had already grown quiet.
Dinner in London was not yet over, while the date elsewhere had already moved forward.
Some wishes arrived in daylight. When the night deepened here, the same words lit up once again.
Birthdays and festivals began to have two beginnings.
Over the years, I became used to letting one part of life happen a little earlier, and another end a little later.
Some days became longer because of it. I happened to live between them.
